so what's Langkawi Art Biennale 2014?
.
'Migration', in a way, is also a 'calling' for artists from around the world.
2014 is the year when Langkawi will rise to the occasion, with the introduction of a premier art event that aims to transform the island into a premier art destination.
The Langkawi Art Biennale 2014 is organised by ArtMalaysia Association and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, ultimately developing and fostering the island as a new destination for art enthusiasts and people around the world. It also aspires to seek out possibilities for expression in contemporary art within the context of Langkawi, by showcasing the work of more than 250 local and international artists from 40 countries.
The theme of the event is 'migration' - a reflection of our highly globalised world, where the movement of people and mobility has become more seamless than ever in a borderless world, in which cultures meld together in a constant state of flux. "Migration", in a way, is also a 'calling' for artists from around the world to come together to a new destination that offers nature, beauty and inspiration for ten days, sharing the dream with ArtMalaysia to cultivate Langkawi as a unique art destination.
